Cosmic-ray positrons strongly constrain leptophilic dark matter

چکیده
Cosmic-ray positrons have long been considered a powerful probe of dark matter annihilation. In particular, myriad studies the unexpected rise in positron fraction debated its or pulsar origins. this paper, we instead examine potential for extremely precise measurements by AMS-02 to hard leptophilic candidates that do not spectral features similar bulk observed excess. Utilizing detailed cosmic-ray propagation model includes primary flux generated Galactic pulsars addition secondary component constrained Helium and proton measurements, produce robust fit local spectrum. We find no evidence bump correlated with matter, set strong constraints on annihilation cross-section fall below thermal masses 60 GeV 380 into $\tau^+\tau^-$ $e^+e^-$, respectively, our default model.

Cosmic Rays from Leptophilic Dark Matter Decay via Kinetic Mixing
If interpreted in terms of decaying dark matter, the steep rise in the positron fraction of cosmic rays above 10GeV, as observed by the PAMELA experiment, suggests an underlying production mechanism that favors leptonic channels. We consider a scenario where a portion of the dark matter is made of the gauginos of an unbroken hidden-sector U(1)X , which interact with the visible sector only thro...
متن کاملA Gamma-ray Burst/pulsar for Cosmic-ray Positrons with a Dark Matter-like Spectrum
We propose that a nearby gamma-ray burst (GRB) or GRB-like (old, single and short-lived) pulsar/microquasar about 105−6 years ago may be responsible for the excesses of cosmic-ray positrons and electrons recently observed by the PAMELA, ATIC/PPB-BETS, Fermi and HESS experiments. We can reproduce the smooth Fermi/HESS spectra as well as the spiky ATIC/PPB-BETS spectra. The spectra have a sharp c...
متن کاملLeptophilic dark matter from the lepton asymmetry.
We present a model of weak scale dark matter (DM) where the thermal DM density is set by the lepton asymmetry due to the presence of higher dimension lepton violating operators. In these models there is generically a separation between the annihilation cross section responsible for the relic abundance (through lepton violating operators) and the annihilation cross section that is relevant for t...
متن کاملThe Cosmic Ray Signature of Dark Matter Caustics
Gravitational collapse of dark matter, merger of dark matter haloes and tidal disruption of satellites are among processes which lead to the formation of fine and dense dark matter shells, also known as dark matter caustics. The putative weakly interacting species which may form the dark matter are expected to strongly annihilate in these dense regions of the Milky Way halo and generate in part...
